Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger points can be implicated in a wide range of common conditions that involve chronic pain, including sciatica, plantar fasciitis, low back pain, trigger finger and frozen shoulder, to name a few.

Trigger points are defined as “a focus of hyper-irritability in a tissue that, when compressed, is locally tender and, if sufficiently hypersensitive, gives rise to referred pain and tenderness.

Trigger points are typically caused by three types of muscle overload: acute, sustained and repetitive. These types of muscle overload can occur in a variety of settings, including occupational and athletic settings, and can also result from underlying pathologies.

Trigger point therapy for pain relief

By pressing on painful knots, it reduces muscle tightness and stops pain signals. This allows muscles to relax, improves movement, and lowers discomfort in affected areas

Some pressure or discomfort may be felt on tight areas, but it should not be too painful. The therapist adjusts pressure to keep treatment effective yet comfortable.

It is very effective for chronic muscle pain, headaches, and conditions like sciatica. By releasing these knots, it helps restore muscle function and reduce long-term pain.
